Análisis marginal y modelación cuadrática de la relación entre ventas y utilidad en empresas de Los Ríos, Ecuador

El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar la relación funcional entre los ingresos por ventas y la utilidad del ejercicio de 2.359 empresas de la provincia de Los Ríos, mediante modelos de regresión lineal y cuadrática complementados con análisis marginal e inferencia estadística. Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo, observacional, no experimental y transversal utilizando información financiera del Ranking Empresarial 2025 correspondiente al ejercicio económico 2024. Los modelos se estimaron mediante mínimos cuadrados ordinarios y se evaluaron con pruebas de heterocedasticidad, errores estándar robustos White-HC0 y HC3, diagnósticos de influencia y análisis de sensibilidad. La especificación cuadrática presentó un mayor ajuste dentro de la muestra que el modelo lineal. Sin embargo, la prueba de Breusch–Pagan evidenció heterocedasticidad. Bajo HC3, el coeficiente lineal permaneció positivo y significativo (β₁ = 0,059870; p = 0,029), mientras que el término cuadrático dejó de ser significativo (β₂ = −0,000484; p = 0,472). Los análisis de sensibilidad mostraron que la curvatura dependía de la composición de la muestra. Se concluye que existe una asociación positiva y estadísticamente robusta entre las ventas y la utilidad; no obstante, la evidencia sobre una relación cóncava y un punto estacionario debe interpretarse únicamente como descriptiva y exploratoria
